Whew, that was quite a quick month, wasn't it? I feel like September flew by and October is sure to do the same now that Bridal Market is nearly upon us!!
If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat you already know that I was traveling most of September. I honestly feel SO lucky that my work allows me not only opportunities but also the flexibility to travel. I'm really fortunate to mostly be able to take my work with me wherever I go.
Where I was:
- New Mexico (press trip)
- Los Angeles
- NYC, obvi 😉
What I did:
Watched Stranger Things. I know I'm not the first or last person to talk about how awesome this show was, but it still needs to be said. Eric and I really enjoyed this little 80's retro sci-fi mystery series and if you haven't watched it yet, you totally should.
Saw Something Rotten! Remember how I said that seeing Broadway shows is something I totally want to do more of? Well lucky for me, my husband is also on board. Eric snagged us BOGO 1/2 off tickets during Broadway Week here in NYC so we got to finally see Something Rotten. Such a hilarious and fun show! It was really cool to see Will Chase on Broadway after watching him on Smash and Nashville.
Rode a bike in NYC. After 3+ years of living in NYC, Eric and I still hadn't gone for a bike ride in the city. They've finally put some Citi Bike stations in our neighborhood, so we decided to give it a go one Sunday early in the month and it couldn't have been a more perfect day for it! We rode bikes down to the 79th Street Boat Basin on the Upper West Side, a spot we'd had on our list to check out for quite a while. We had a couple of Piña Coladas and then biked back home. I totally forgot how fun it is to ride a bike… I can barely even remember the last time I'd done it before then. I can't imagine riding a bike around NYC for transportation and I still don't think I'd be comfortable riding in the streets. But I'd totally be happy to ride regularly up and down Riverside Park or the West Side Bike Path just for funsies and exercise!
Rode in a hot air balloon. This was something that had been on my bucket list for SO long, so I was thrilled when I saw a hot air balloon ride on my itinerary for my New Mexico press trip! What an incredible experience. I expected to be much more scared but it was honestly so peaceful and beautiful — I absolutely loved it!
Visited my sister Kim in LA. And like complete idiots we did not take any selfies together. Womp womp. We did, however, eat with reckless abandon and enjoy lots of QT together, so that's what matters, right?
Saw the Vols beat the Gators for the first time in 11 years. What a game! After over a decade of watching the Vols chump it up time and time again, we finally got to chomp in the face of the Gators after an insane victory. It's so exciting to see our boys win, and to be in Knoxville for the big game was amazing. It was so awesome to see our Knoxville friends and have our NYC friends Brittny and Eric there, too!
Saw Adele. This was seriously the best way to be welcomed back to NYC. We flew back from Tennessee on Monday morning and saw Adele's last show at Madison Square Garden Monday night. She was absolutely incredible and I am so thrilled that we were able to go. I may or may not have cried several times throughout the concert. There's just something about being in the presence of that kind of talent that makes me so overwhelmed with emotion… oh, and the fact that most of her songs are sad love songs helps, too. 😭 It was seriously one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Booked a BIG brand campaign. Like, the biggest one I've ever done. I hosted a craft workshop at the new FujiFilm Wonder Photo Shop in NYC and it was so fun! They have a print studio in-house where you can print photos from your smartphone, USB drive, etc in any size you desire. The store has lots of fun photo gift items for you to make on the fly, from canvas prints to framed photos. They even have some free scrapbooking supplies so you can get crafty right there in the store! This was the first time they put together a workshop like this and I hope to do more with them in the future.
What I ate:
On my two-week-long adventure on the road, I gained 8 lbs. Confirmed by the doctor's appointments that bookended my trip 🙈 YOLO, as they say. Now that I'm back at home I'm hoping to get back to my normal-ish healthy eating habits.
Since I was in so many different places last month, it would be crazy to try to list out all the restaurants I ate at and all the things I had. I'm thinking I may just have to do city guides at some point… you know, in all my free time.
What I bought:
Popsockets. I was introduced to this funny little contraption thanks to my friend Sara, CEO of Honeyfund. She gives out Popsockets with her logo on it when she meets new people and encouraged me to put it on my phone. So I did… and I quickly became obsessed with it. So I finally decided to order a new one with my own logo on it to advertise my brand while I'm out and about 😉 It allows you an easier way to hold your phone one-handed, and it's definitely even more needed now that I have the new…
iPhone 7 Plus. Last time I opted for the regular size 6s and I had serious regret about it. This time I chose to get the Plus and so far I'm thrilled with the extra screen real estate. Since I do so much emailing and work on the go, I think I'm going to enjoy having the bigger screen and easier typing. Loving it so far! #applenerdforlife
And that basically busted my budget for the month so I didn't do much other shopping! 😂
So… that pretty much sums up my month. It went by in a blink and I have no doubt that October will do the same. I've got Bridal Market madness starting this week, followed by a trip to Nebraska for the Oriental Trading Contributor's workshop, as well as my 2nd trip to the Fort Lauderdale Your Wedding Experience expo with David Tutera. We've actually scheduled a week-long stay in Fort Lauderdale to attempt to get a little R&R, which I am really looking forward to.
I'm not sure if I'll have time to update here over the next few weeks with all the craziness happening but I'll be sure to update you of all that happens with an October recap, just like this.
Till next time!
